A request for generative AI consent processes in Further Education

We have received numerous questions about age restrictions and parental consent for using generative AI tools in further education (FE) institutions.

We appreciate that this is a particularly challenging issue, and we are currently working on guidance which we aim to publish in the next few weeks. We hope this will help our members in preparing for the next academic year and beyond.

To ensure our guidance is as practical and helpful as possible, we are looking for examples of consent processes currently in place at FE institutions. These can be existing, more general processes for software that may translate to generative AI or processes that are specifically designed for generative AI tools.

Get in touch

If you are happy to share these examples with us, we would greatly appreciate it. Alternatively, if you are currently developing a consent process, we would be interested in hearing about your planned approach and any decisions you have made so far.

We hope that this will help the wider FE community address this issue. Please send your examples to AI@jisc.ac.uk.
