Our first AI in FE Community meet up of the year

Welcome back!

We welcomed back our AI in Further Education community meet ups this month and had an excellent first session that kicked off our new format for the academic year. Attendees joined us to watch a fantastic presentation from Roddy Peters, Group Head of Digital Skills at Windsor Forest Colleges group, who shared all the brilliant work they’ve been doing with AI.

Watch the recording of Roddy’s presentation on YouTube, a link to download the full transcript is available in the video description.

A new format

This year, we’ve taken a different approach for our meet ups, which will feature a guest speaker from a further education institution sharing how they are implementing AI within their college. We have a variety of guest speakers scheduled for the next few months, and we are really looking forward to hearing from them.

We have some slots left if you’d also like to share with the wider FE community. This can be a fantastic opportunity to gain feedback and learn from one another and we’d encourage as many people to share as possible. Please do get in touch with us at ai@jisc.ac.uk.

A few updates from us

We thought this would be a great opportunity to share what we’ve been up to over the summer with some of our FE members. We wrapped up our FE AI detection working group, whose work contributed to our Learner Resources, which are now live on our Generative AI in Practice page. Thank you to all who contributed their time and knowledge, we hope that these resources are successful in providing students with a foundational level of AI literacy.

You may have also seen that we are re-running our AI literacy webinar series. Whether you’re new to the series or have joined previously, we welcome everyone along to join the conversation.

Our next FE community meet up will be held on Tuesday 19th November 2024 12.30-1.30pm. We’ll be joined by Adam Leeson, Lead Quality Practitioner from SMB College Group, who will be presenting AI Literacy for the Future: Preparing FE Learners’. More information will be sent closer to the session date, so make sure to keep an eye on your inboxes. If you’ve yet to sign up for the FE community meet ups, you can do so by completing this form.

Thank you once more to everyone who has participated and continues to take part in our sessions, we really appreciate your contributions and are excited to hear from you.
