Jamworks pilot: Initial stages

We are pleased to announce that our pilot of Jamworks, an innovative platform which uses generative AI to produce transcripts, notes and additional resources from lecture recordings, has officially begun. We had a huge amount of interest in this pilot and want to thank all institutions who took the time to apply.

Several institutions have been chosen to take part, who have each selected a cohort of students to trial the platform over the next few months.

Our first five participants are:

  • South Lanarkshire College
  • West Thames College
  • University of Sussex
  • University of Wales Trinity Saint David
  • University of East London

During the pilot, our participant’s students will have access to the Jamworks platform, which uses AI to provide highly accurate lecture transcripts and capture and structure critical information, allowing students to fully participate in the moment without taking notes. It then allows them to review their understanding through tailored study aids, such as lecture summaries, main points, and flashcards. Students can also interact with a chatbot customised with the lecture information, helping them to clarify complex topics and explore their areas of interest more deeply.

This pilot aims to evaluate the impact of Jamworks on student experience, learning and engagement with lectures. Our participants are currently rolling out the platform to selected cohorts of students across various courses.

In our evaluation, we will gather participant’s feedback on all aspects of the platform including general usability, quality of generated content, and impact on the learning experience. As part of this process, we’re particularly interesting in understanding Jamworks’ strengths as an assistive technology, and exploring how the platform can make lectures more accessible

We look forward to sharing the findings of this pilot with all of our members later this year. Thank you very much to all of our participating institutions and Jamworks.
