We’re pleased to launch our new AI in Research community.
This community will be focused on the use of AI in research administration and management, and as a tool for researchers, rather than research into AI.
We want it to be a place where we can share ideas and focus on areas such as advice and guidance, governance and policy, and the effectiveness of AI tools.
We’re following the same format as our AI in Education community. Initially, there will be a Jiscmail list with a regular newsletter from us, and you are free to post to the community. Once we have enough subscribers, we’ll launch monthly online meetups, following the same format as the HE learning and teaching meetups, where we vote on topics of interest to discuss and then have an open discussion. We will also explore forming smaller ‘task and finish’ groups to work on ideas suggested by the community.
We learned from our education-focused list that once a list reaches a certain size, replying to the whole list can become problematic for some members due to the volume of messages. As the list grows, we’ll review this and will likely move to a ‘respond to the individual, not the list’ model, with a separate list for chat. However, to start with, feel free to use the list for discussion so we can get to know one another and understand our key issues and concerns.
